FA 01. GOYA AWARDS.

The Goya awards, known as the “Premios Goya” in Spain , are the Spanish national film awards, being like the equivalent of the American Academy Awards.
The awards were established in 1987, and the first ceremony took place on March the 16th at the Lope de Vega theatre. It all happened a year after the fundation of the “Academia de las Artes y las Ciencias Cinematográficas de España” (Spanish Academy of Cinematic Art and Science).
That ceremony takes place annually, and awards are given to films produced the previous year. The award itself is a small bronze bust of Francisco de Goya created by the sculptor José Luis Fernández.
It has got categories like the best film, the best director, the best actress, the best actor, the best director… Since the awards have started to took place here in Spain, there have been 26 ceremonies, and some films have won more than 5 awards here, some of them could be ¡Hay,Carmela!, Cell 211, Agora, No Rest For The Wicked…
Some known people who has participated in that awards are Penelope Cruz, Pedro Almodóvar, Nerea Camacho, Marta Robles, Rodrigo Cortes, Mónica Cruz…
