Our Project

The aim of the project is to educate our students in communication. The information society in which we live enhances a variety of communicative systems which respond to different symbolic alphabets: film language, visual language, radio communication, etc. Consequently, one of the purposes of this project is to help our students become familiar with media literacy, understand the message behind the images and sound, and be critical about contents in messages.

Furthermore, students will realize that we can learn about another culture through the media. In this sense, students will carry out tasks such as reading and writing pieces of news, designing advertisements, recording commercials, publishing podcasts, participating in blogs, forums, chats, etc. For example students will analyze  different mass media productions to find out that they can be approached in different ways depending on the country which emits them or where the events take place.

To sum up, from a practical dimension the students will become journalists, graphic designers, sound editors and filmmakers and they will practise and make use of the media language and tools to create their own news, advertisements and audiovisual productions.

The final result of the project is arranging an Art Show in Majorca during the visit of the Italian students. In this Art show students will exhibit the productions they have been creating throughout the two years of the project: photos, logos, advertisements, short films and animation films, audio clips and so on. This multimedia exhibition will be open not only to the school community but to all the people in town. In this sense we will give publicity to the Comenius project and the art show in local magazines, tv, radio and on internet.

Rationale.

The motivation for this project is to help our students engage in learning about another culture. We want our students to notice the differences and similarities between their own country and another European country. We also want to let them know the importance of learning foreign languages when traveling, meeting new people and come into contact with other ways of thinking.

By involving our students in a European project we will allow them to practise the English language in a natural way. The need to communicate with foreign students will make them aware of the importance of learning foreign languages, in this case, English, in order to understand and communicate with people from another European country.

Moreover the mass media is a good starting point, since the newspapers, the radio, the television and the cinema have a relevant presence in our day to day life and it’s a mirror of our societies. In this sense, teenagers must be critical with the messages they receive through the mass media. It is of great importance to educate our students in communication since they are in constant contact with the audiovisual language.

From a methodological point of view, it is of great interest for teachers in both schools to share and compare the experience of a CLIL approach with our students.

Objectives & Strategies.

  1. Our main objectives are:
  • Learning about communication and how to use the media to communicate.
  • Use of ICT to communicate with foreign students within a virtual network.
  • Intercultural exchange: living in and learning about another culture.
  • Practise the English language from a communicative point of view.
  • Putting into practice all the acquired knowledge about communication in order to create final products.
  • Compare and contrast the use of the CLIL approach in both schools.

2. Subjects that we intend to address:

  • Communication and the media: press, radio, TV and cinema.
  • Analyze and compare the different communicative systems in both countries: Italy and Spain.
  • Educate our students in the media literacy, help them to make a critical analysis of contents in messages.
  • ICT: use of blogs, forums, e-mail to share and contrast ideas.
  • Use of free and open-source software applications to create common final products.

3. Problems that we intend to address:

  • Different learning processes and abilities are seen to be a problem in classrooms nowadays. This project aims to make the difference a positive ingredient in a group. Each student learn in a different way and therefore they will be skilled at different areas. Consequently each student will make his/her particular contribution to the project and with their common effort they will get a better result.
  • There’s a tendency to believe that our way of understanding the world is the right one and even the only one. Getting to know a new culture and analyzing the mass media might open our mind to other realities and lifestyles.
  • Avoid the lack of motivation of the students due to excessive study of theoretical contents. Introducing multimedia contents (video, audio and interactive applications) will allow a more effective learning since they are more attractive, motivating and rewarding. Students see clear results of their effort in a short time.

4. Approach:

  • We will use the CLIL approach as it combines elements of contents, communication, cognition and culture, all of them key elements for an effective learning process. Both partners use CLIC to teach their everyday lessons.
  • All the tasks produced during the project will be developed within a virtual learning environment. In this sense, we think that E-learning is the most suitable approach to a student’s learning exchange since it promotes collaborative work and makes all learners contribute to the educational experience in many ways.

El Nostre Projecte.

L’objectiu principal del nostre projecte consisteix en educar als alumnes en l’àmbit de la comunicació. La societat de la informació en la que vivim empra una gran varietat de sistemes comunicatius que responen a diferents alfabets : el llenguatge cinematogràfic, la comunicació radiofònica, etc. Conseqüentment, un dels propòsits d’aquest projecte és ajudar als nostres alumnes a familialitzar-se amb la media literacy, entendre el missatge rera les imatges i el so, i ser crítics sobre els continguts dels missatges.

Els alumnes s’adonaran que poden aprendre sobre una altra cultura a través dels mitjans de comunicació. En aquest sentit, els alumnes realitzaran tasques tals com llegir i escriure articles periodístics, dissenyar anuncis publicitaris, enregistrar anunics per a TV o ràdio, publicar podcasts, participar en blogs, fòrums, chats, etc. Per exemple, els alumnes analitzaran diferents productes dels mitjans de comunicació per a descobrir que poden tenir diferents enfocaments depenent del seu origen.

En resum, des d’una dimensió pràctica  els alumnes es convertiran en periodistes, dissenyadors gràfics, editors d’àudio i productors de cinema  i posaran en pràctica l’ús del llengutage dels mitjans de comunicació conjuntament amb eines i aplicacions de programari per a crear els seus propis articles periodístics, anuncis publicitaris i produccions audiovisuals.

El resultat final del projecte consistirà en dur a terme una Mostra d’Art a Mallorca during the visit of the Italian students.   • Aprendre sobre comunicació i com usar els mitjans per a comunicar.
  • Ús de les TIC per a comunicar-se amb alumnes foranis dins d’una xarxa virtual.
  • Intercanvi cultural: viure i aprendre sobre una altra cultura.
  • Practicar la llengua anglesa des d’un punt de vista comunicatiu.
  • Posar en pràctica tots els coneixements adquirits sobre la comunicació en la lrealització de productes finals.
  • Comparar i contrastar l’ús de l’enfocament CLIL en ambdues escoles.

  • Els mitjans de comunicació: premsa, ràdio, TV i cinema.
  • Analitzar i comparar els diferents sistemes comunicatius en ambós paisos: Itàlia i Espanya.

4. Enfocament:

  • Farem ús d’una metodologia CLIL combinant els diferents elements: continguts, comunicació, coneixment i cultura, tots ells elements claus per a un procés d’enseyament efectiu. Ambdós socis usarem l’enfocament CLIC a diari per ensenyar les lliçons.
  • Totes les tasques produides durant el projecte seran desenvolupades dins d’un entorn d’aprenentatge virtual. En aquest sentit, pensam que l’E-learning és l’enfocament més idoni per a l’aprenentatge dels estudiants d’intercanvi donat que promou el treball col·laboratiu i fa que tots els alumnes contribueixin a l’expericència educativa de diferents formes i nivells.

italianIl Nostro Progetto

Lo scopo di questo  progetto è quello di educare gli studenti alla comunicazione attraverso il linguaggio cinematografico, la radio, il linguaggio visivo, la grafica, l’animazione. Pertanto, uno degli scopi di questo progetto è quello di aiutare i nostri studenti a familiarizzare con l’alfabetizzazione mediatica , comprendere il messaggio che si nasconde  dietro le immagini e il suono, e di essere in grado di dare un proprio giudizio su contenuti dei messaggi.

In questo modo gli studenti si son resi conto che attraverso i media si può apprendere una nuova cultura. Essi hanno svolto attività quali la lettura e la stesura di notizie, la creazione di slogan o cartelloni  pubblicitari, la registrazione di spot , pubblicazione di video, hanno partecipato a blog, chat, ecc., diventando, praticamente, dei giornalisti, dei grafici, dei montatori del suono e registi nonché apprendendo e utilizzando linguaggi e strumenti necessari per creare da soli le notizie, gli  annunci pubblicitari e produzioni audiovisive .

Alla fine  del progetto, come prova di ciò che è stato fatto, durante la visita degli studenti italiani, è stata organizzata sarà  organizzata una mostra  a Manacor in cui gli studenti hanno esposto tutti i lavori prodotti nel corso dei due anni del progetto stesso: foto, loghi, cartelloni pubblicitari, cortometraggi e film d’animazione, clip audio e così via. La mostra multimediale è stata aperta non solo alla comunità scolastica, ma all’intera comunità per dare visibilità al progetto Comenius. 

La Motivazione.

La motivazione di questo progetto è stata quella di aiutare i nostri studenti ad impegnarsi per conoscere un’altra cultura, a notare le differenze e le analogie tra il proprio paese e un altro paese europeo, ad apprendere l’importanza di imparare lingue straniere che permetteranno loro di viaggiare, incontrare nuove persone e di venire a contatto con altri modi di pensare.

I mass media rappresentano un buon punto di partenza, dal momento che i giornali, la radio, la televisione e il cinema hanno una presenza rilevante nella nostra vita di ogni giorno e sono uno specchio della nostra società. In questo senso, gli adolescenti devono essere critici con i messaggi che ricevono attraverso i mass media. Insegnare ai nostri studenti a comunicare è molto importante dal momento che essi sono in costante contatto con il linguaggio audiovisivo.

Da un punto di vista metodologico, è stato di grande interesse per gli insegnanti di entrambe le scuole l’esperienza di un approccio CLIL con i nostri studenti.

Obiettivi e Strategie.

 – Imparare a conoscere la comunicazione e imparare ad utilizzare i media per comunicare.

– Usare le TIC per comunicare con gli studenti stranieri all’interno di una rete virtuale.

– Scambio interculturale: vivere e conoscere un’altra cultura.

– Praticare la lingua inglese come mezzo di comunicazione.

– Mettere in pratica le conoscenze acquisite sulla comunicazione allo scopo di creare prodotti finali.

– Confrontare e contrapporre  il metodo CLIL in entrambe le scuole.

 Argomenti affrontati:

 – Comunicazione dei media: stampa, radio, televisione e cinema.

– Analisi e confronto tra i diversi sistemi comunicativi in ​​entrambi i paesi: l’Italia e la Spagna.

– Insegnare a i nostri studenti la letteratura dei media  e  aiutarli a fare un’analisi critica dei contenuti dei messaggi.

– TIC: l’uso di blog, forum, e-mail per condividere e confrontare le idee.

– Uso di applicazioni di software gratuiti e open-source per creare prodotti finali comuni.

 Problematiche affrontate:

– I diversi processi di apprendimento e di abilità che sono considerati un problema al giorno d’oggi. – C’è la tendenza a credere che il nostro modo di concepire il mondo sia il più giusto e anche l’unico. Imparare a conoscere una nuova cultura e l’analisi dei mass media potrebbe aprire la nostra mente ad altre realtà e stili di vita.

– Evitare la mancanza di motivazione degli studenti dovuta ad un eccessivo studio dei contenuti teorici. L’introduzione dei contenuti multimediali (applicazioni video, audio e interattivi) consente un apprendimento più efficace dal momento che essi sono più interessanti, motivanti e gratificanti.

 Approccio:

 – Abbiamo spesso usato l’approccio CLIL in quanto mette insieme elementi di contenuto, comunicazione, conoscenza e cultura, ossia tutti elementi chiave per un processo di apprendimento efficace.

– Tutti i lavori realizzati nel corso del progetto sono stati sviluppati all’interno di un ambiente di apprendimento virtuale. In questo senso, abbiamo ritenuto che l’e-learning sia l’approccio più adatto per lo scambio di conoscenze tra gli studenti in quanto esso favorisce il lavoro collaborazione e permette a tutti gli studenti di contribuire all’esperienza educativa in molti modi.
