Formerly Manacor’s Town Council was situated on this square. There are still some manor houses of the 18th and 19th, and beginnings of the 20th in Renaissance-Mannerist style and buildings with modernistic decoration.

The study of the ceramic material found in the wells and silos of this street has lead to reach some conclusions about the urban evolution of the town:

  1. From an archaeological point of view, the Islamic presence in the city centre of Manacor can be confirmed.
  2. It can also be confirmed from the planimetric study of the remains, that Jaume Domenge street already existed in the Islamic period, sice all the wells are aligned with street façades.
  3. From the superficial study of the ceramic it can be seen that most of the silos were no longer used as grain stores at the end of the 17th century and the beginning of the 18th century.
  4. Analysing the urban development of the last three centuries, it is confirmed that the underground stores which have been found were used until the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.

TOUR 07. PLAÇA DE LA CONSTITUCIÓ.

.
